A technical communicator since 1993, Emily Hylton opened E. Hylton Communication
in 2004. As a consultant specializing in technical editing and writing
projects, Emily is experienced in bringing clarity to technical content
for high-tech audiences and overseeing content development from start to
finish.
Emily's experience includes:
- Developmental and copy editing of technical documentation for software developers and IT professionals.
- Designing and editing online help content, tutorials, and training materials for software users.
- Focused developmental, substantive, or copy editing of technical articles,
white papers, user guides and SDK documentation, case studies, and technical sales material.
- More than seven years as a full-time employee at Microsoft Corporation,
holding roles of Lead Technical Editor and Technical Editor.
- Creating and maintaining style guides, product
glossaries, and documentation processes.
Emily is a member of the Society for Technical Communication, the Microsoft
Alumni Network, Biznik.com, and LinkedIn.com. She resides in the Pacific
Northwest with her husband and two children, where she enjoys hiking,
boating, and a good cup of coffee.
